2025 Top Employer for Interns
Hanbury has been recognized as a 2025 Top Employer for Interns by The Virginia Talent + Opportunity Partnership (V-TOP), a reflection of the culture we’ve intentionally built: one rooted in continual learning and shared growth.
The internship experience at Hanbury is a shared journey, an opportunity for emerging designers to engage with real projects and contribute to meaningful dialogue. In return, we gain fresh energy, new insight, and the invaluable perspective of those asking bold questions. Curiosity drives both sides of the exchange.
That commitment extends across several experiences offered throughout the year, including our Winter Externship, Spring Shadow Studio, IPAL initiative, and the flagship Nick Vlattas Summer Scholar Program.

The Summer Scholar Program, named for our co-founder and former COO, merges mentorship, research, and immersive experience into a platform for mutual discovery. It serves as a launchpad for students stepping into the profession and, for us, a continued push to think differently.

This recognition affirms what we know to be true: the future of design is shaped by open minds, shared inquiry, and the willingness to explore new ground, together.
"Our Summer Scholar Program is one of the most meaningful ways we connect with emerging talent from across the country. It gives students the chance to experience our work, our culture, and the communities we’re part of. Many leave with the realization that they don’t need to be in a major city to work on thoughtful, high-caliber design. Talent is the lifeblood of our practice, and bringing in top graduates through this program remains one of our most effective ways to build the future of Hanbury.”
