Hanbury is pleased to announce the elevation of Rebecca (Becky) B. Ensogna, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, to Vice President, only the third time in the firm’s 56-year history that this position has been awarded. This milestone reflects Becky’s far-reaching impact on Hanbury’s evolution and the trust placed in her to guide the firm’s strategic growth.

Since joining Hanbury more than a decade ago, Becky has managed some of the firm’s most complex projects and played an integral role in shaping key operational frameworks for the Norfolk, Baltimore and Richmond offices. As an officer and board member, she has helped guide the development of firmwide systems that uphold design excellence, client service, and Hanbury’s core values. Her recent work includes leading the Virginia Tech Foundation Gilbert Place project and supporting the growth of the firm’s Civic + Community market.

“Becky’s recognition as Vice President is a testament to her strong leadership and the profound impact she’s already had at Hanbury," shared David Keith, CEO. "She brings a rare balance of technical rigor, strategic thinking, and genuine care for our people, qualities that help strengthen our culture and ensure we meet the demands of our rapidly growing practice.”

In her expanded role, Becky will guide day-to-day operations across offices, collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team on strategic initiatives, and continue mentoring emerging talent. Known for her approachable style, she describes herself as “a coach and organizer rather than a top-down leader,” emphasizing empathy and clarity in all decision-making.

“Throughout my career - and heightened since joining Hanbury - my passion has been contributing to the practical delivery of exceptional design vision." said Becky. “This role allows me to connect the broader vision of the firm with the day-to-day work of our project teams, where the innovation and creativity of our people drive our success. I’m honored to take on this new responsibility.”

A graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Architecture, Becky credits her alma mater with instilling a strong work ethic and an appreciation for quality design. She also holds a Master’s in Community Planning from the University of Cincinnati, providing a broader perspective on the profession and strengthening her capacity to communicate, manage, and collaborate across disciplines.
