The Sitio

An intimate hotel introduces Atlantic Park through a curated experience shaped by the surf, art, and music culture of Virginia Beach.

The Sitio is a 20-key boutique hotel within Atlantic Park that translates the character of Virginia Beach into a compact hospitality experience. Conceived as a point of arrival, the hotel connects guests to the surrounding district and to the surf, art, and music culture that defines this part of the city.

The building’s unique geometry produces a range of room types, giving each room a distinct relationship to view, light and form. No two are the same. Unique design features, including open storage for personal surfboards, celebrate an active, experiential lifestyle.

The interior design is carefully restrained. High ceilings, natural light, and a palette of Shou Sugi Ban wood, textiles, concrete, steel, and warm wood accents establish a tactile character throughout. Private balconies and shared terraces, along with a pool deck, orient toward the lagoon and extend the experience outward.

The art of craft is on display throughout the hotel. Locally fabricated elements reinforce its connection to place. A reception desk made from a tree removed during site preparation reintroduces material from the landscape into the building, while custom white oak headboards and bespoke leather details extend this approach across scales.

Art and music operate as a parallel layer of the hotel experience, reflecting the city’s legacy of art and music culture. The Sitio showcases work by local and internationally recognized artists, while playlists developed with the team of Pharrell Williams introduce guests to new artists during each stay.

The design of The Sitio was a collaboration between Hanbury and Gensler, the Architect of Record.
